2nd Annual Craft Beer Block Party was a huge success and super fun!

True to tradition, our northern Michigan weather tried to rain on our party . But instead lake charlevoix filled with beautiful fog and the temperature stayed in the 50s. Boyne city downtown filled with people both local and travelers and we all enjoyed michigan’s finest Brewer offerings.

Thornetta Davis sang her heart out until 8pm. If you haven’t heard this woman sing you are missing out. Her band knows how to get the crowd moving.

While I tried to taste them all, I once again failed but had a great time trying . What I learned: mackinaw trails winery, which is just outside of Walloon lake on 31, also has a brewery and a sandwich shop! This was news to me and probably you! They have tons of events scheduled for the summer starting with customer appreciation night on May 21!

Beyond that the block party was a great kick off to another fun filled morel mushroom festival. Let the hunt begin!

Boyne city harvest festival: cold but fun!

Today, October 3, was Boyne City’s annual Harvest festival where the fall produce of northern Michigan takes center stage. The roads are closed and everyone gets to stroll down the streets one last time before the snow. In true northern fashion the weather turned brutally cold with the wind whipping off the lake. But everyone remained in high spirts picking out fresh produce and crafts, eating homemade goods and listening to local musicians. While we wished the weather would have held out just one more day, it didn’t stop anyone from enjoying a horse drawn hay ride or kids getting their faces painted. And with the close of another harvest it’s time to start focusing on the incoming winter. Which means to us Boyne residents and tourist alike, “Let it snow, it’s time to ski!” Here’s to another colorful fall, the leaves will be changing quickly now that the temperature  has officially dropped. And here’s to another great ski season. @liveboyne @metalroofingjen #northernmichigan #lakecharlevoix #boynecitymi #statestreetvacationhouse
